On The Perfect Woman.
It all began in Japan, with first manga and then anime about dolls turning to life to fill the gap real women could not in the life of the hero...

What? Pygmalion? What is that?

...as I was saying, robot girls who would fall in love with their human, male masters. Like Chobits or Saber Marionette.

But the Japanese, being a kinky bunch, could not leave it at that. No.

They have to proceed to the next step, a live action series about the dork and the robot, untitled Legend of the Doll.

Not happy with this, uh, this material, three year ago the Japanese unveiled their latest creation, Repliee Q1, whose internal sensors allow it to react "naturally": "But it's the little, 'unconscious' movements that give the robot its eerie verisimilitude: the slight flutter of the eyelids, the subtle rising and falling of the chest, the constant, nearly imperceptible shifting so familiar to humans..."

Made in the image of a woman? What a surprise. :)

And today in the news, I saw... The Perfect Woman.

Created by AI Robotics, a company founded two years ago by Etienne Fresse and Yoichi Yamato, it aims to develop the technologies that "would allow us to create a robot capable of imitate perfectly the human reactions."

Pics? I offer you a commercial:

LISA (that is the name of the first model) is "a true substitute of a woman, it was conceived for all men, those which do not manage to find his soul mate, those who wish to have company in the evening at the house, those who would like that somebody would take care of them."

Plenty of lonely men out there, it seems.

And what about sex? That is what we want to know! "In the intimacy, LISA will be able to satisfy all your desires, for that we worked with a sexologist of reputation which brought his knowledge on the matter to us."

I do not want to know how they managed to find out LISA was able to do th... too late. I have just pictured in my mind. Omy! :D

So, how do you like the perfect woman?

The LISA doll? Yes, it was presented to the public a few days ago, but it was until yesterday that I catched it in the news. Creeepy, isn't it?

Whoa...does she stand up and walk around? That's creepy. Kind of reminds me of Chobits.

I do not know if she does that: what I saw was the doll standing and moving, just like in the add.

The more these things look like humans, the creepier they are. o_0

Yeah...anything with human enough features to look like it can be judging you is what I think constitutes it as creepy.

I must admit I never saw it from that optic. Good point.

If it's a real commercial, well... the robot moves like a robot. I think what guys like about women is that they LOOK like women. Granted, they tried but it's not good enough.

Aside from a few die-hard non-social men, I don't think something like this would do for very long. I might buy one to do housework, however :P.

I am not sure there will not be a market for "sex robots", judging for the growing popularity of sex dolls. I think I posted about it last year, and I think I remember they were becoming real popular since, well, the sex dolls were up to anything. :D

Now the housework idea has its merits, you know? I could use one myself. :P
